I am a minimalist when it comes to makeup: I only wear eyeliner and concealer.  That’s it!  I focus on skincare and nutrition so that my real skin is in good shape and after sunscreen lotion, there’s not much left to do!  I see all these skincare products and cleansers out there, but really, the less you cake on, the less you need to worry about cleaning it off at the end of the day (and all of it clogging pores and irritating your skin).   And I like the idea that when people see me close up in real life, they see just my natural skin!
I have tried so many different types of eyeliners and even forayed into liquid eyeliners.  I usually only wear eyeliner on my top lid and I like it to be a bit thick (ie, not just tightlining).  In fact, I don’t like my liner to be anywhere except for my surface skin because it makes me nervous when I see people tightlining and getting into that sensitive region of their eyes.
I’ve found that pencil liners works best for me in terms of style because they create a less harsh line and look more natural.  They are also easier to apply and can even give a smoky effect.
And my favorite eyeliner of all time is Rimmel’s Exaggerate Waterproof Eye Definer. First of all, I will say that the line is not like liquid liners’ because you can smudge it off without remover.  However, it does not transfer to my lower lash line and does not irritate my eyes.  Which is fantastic news for someone like me who is busy all day and does not like to have to fix my makeup.  It is creamy and glides on so easily and lasts all day.  The color is also buildable, so you can make it as light or dark as you want.
For everyday use, I use the black (noir) liner.  It’s completely black and amazing.
I usually buy my Rimmel liners at Target, but today when I went to get a new one, there were no black eyeliners left!  A true testament to their popularity indeed.  Instead, I bought the brown liner to try out, so we shall see how that works.  I wore my dark blue eyeliner my freshman year of college and I loved it.  But now that I am older (over 20, not grandma status just yet!), I feel like I need to look a bit more professional on a daily basis.  But I swatched the gold liner on my hand, and it’s gorgeous.  I may go back soon to get it to try out.
