Revisiting: Everyday Products

Hi everyone,

This is a general “update” post on a few of the products I’ve been using everyday. For some of them, I’ve changed my mind about how much I like or dislike them. I hope you’ll find the information helpful!

Olay Pro-X Advanced Cleansing System:

  • Used for: 6 months
  • Comments: I’ve been using this brush once a day at night when I wash my face in the shower. It does a great job of exfoliating and taking the makeup off my skin. Although you are supposed to replace the brush head every 3 months, I feel like that’s a little excessive considering that I’ve been using the same brush for the past 6 months and it still looks and feels rather new. The device itself doesn’t use up a lot of power so I haven’t had to replace the batteries yet.
  • Bottom line: I’d recommended this product for those of you looking for a more affordable alternative to Clarisonic.

EcoTools Buffing Brush:

  • Used for: 6 months
  • Comments: I love using this brush to apply liquid products (BB cream and concealer)! It blends out the products really well and there are no streaks at all. I pretty much stopped using my foundation brush after I got this. Since I bought it on Amazon, it came in a pack of two. I was originally going to give one away, but I decided to keep both because I love it so much and use it every single day.
  • Bottom line: I highly recommend this brush for anyone using liquid foundation, tinted moisturizer, BB cream, and/or concealer.

CoverGirl LashExact Waterproof Mascara:

  • Used for: 8 months
  • Comments: I’m so impressed with this mascara. It’s able to hold up the curls and stay smudge-proof on my oily skin. I live in a super humid climate and this mascara stays put throughout the day. The first one I bought was in brown since the black one was out of stock. Nonetheless, it was able to lengthen and volumize my lashes. I recently repurchased this mascara in the shade “very black”.
  • Bottom line: I highly recommended this mascara for those with short, Asian lashes and oily eyelids.

Dolly Wink Liquid Eyeliner:

  • Used for: 2 months
  • Comments: After trying some of the best pencil liners and still can’t avoid raccoon eyes, I decided to try a liquid liner. There are so many great reviews on this liquid liner so I thought I had to try this. The pen-style liner works great for newbies like me and you have a lot of control over the thickness of the line. It dries fast and stays on my lid all day. While I love the brush tip applicator, this liner dried out really quickly. After only 5 weeks of usage, I started having trouble getting a really black, solid line. A couple of things you can do to alleviate this problem: 1) rotate between 2 liners so you don’t use the same one everyday; 2) store the eyeliner tip down.
  • Bottom line: This is a high quality product but like many pen-style liners, it dries up quickly.

Skin79 Super+ BB Cream (gold label):

  • Used for: 6 months
  • Comments: If you’ve been reading my posts regularly, you know I rave about this BB cream a lot. Since I ran out of the pink label version, I got the gold label this time because I found this one to be more moisturizing (thus, more suitable for drier weather). But for some reason the coverage doesn’t seem to be as good as the pink label. The shade is also too grey/light for my skin tone. So with flash photography, my skin looks really washed out.
  • Bottom line: If you have pale skin and don’t need very much coverage, this product would still work for you. But I think I’ll purchase the pink label from now on.
