Hi everyone! I’m posting this entry from the beautiful Pacific side of Costa Rica. The topic for today is my daily face makeup. I generally wear very little makeup on a daily basis. Since I have hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone, I wear face makeup everyday. I only wear eye makeup when there’s a special occasion.
Here’s the general routine for my face makeup:
- Dermablend Redness Concealer (optional)
- Maybelline Mineral Power Concealer [Cream]
- Maybelline Mineral Power Powder Foundation [Creamy Natural] (summer, fall) / Skin79 Super+ BB Cream [pink label] (winter, spring)
- Maybelline Dream Matte Pressed Powder [Sand] (when I travel) / Maybelline Shine Free Oil Control Loose Powder [Medium]
After I moisturize my face, I apply my concealer with the EcoTools concealer brush. Usually, I only use the Maybelline concealer to cover up spots that my foundation/BB cream wouldn’t be able to cover. If my undertone is really prominent, I’d use the Dermablend redness concealer before the Maybelline concealer. The Dermablend concealer is a green concealer so it can even out my skin tone. (On the skin, red + green = grey) After applying concealer, it’s time for foundation. As some of you can tell, I tend to use different products during different seasons. I prefer mineral foundation during summer and fall and prefer BB cream during winter and spring. Since liquid foundation tends to feel heavy on my skin, mineral foundation is a great alternative because it’s light and I don’t feel like I’m wearing any makeup. I like to use the EcoTools kabuki brush (not pictured) when I apply mineral foundation. I don’t really like the brush that comes with the Maybelline foundation because the brush hairs are very hard and irritate my sensitive skin. I started using the Skin79 BB cream a couple of months ago and it’d been great so far. You can apply it with your fingers or with a brush. I prefer using the EcoTools foundation brush to apply this product. Right after the application, the skin appears to be pale/grey-ish. But once the product oxidizes, it will match your skin tone. Lastly, I apply powder for oil-control and setting my makeup. I prefer using loose powder over pressed powder because it tends to last longer on my skin. The brush that I use to apply powder is the EcoTools powder brush. (The brush in the picture is the travel size powder brush.) When you are on-the-go, loose powder can get a little messy. The Maybelline Dream Matte Pressed Powder is great because the packaging comes with 2 layers (top layer is the product and bottom layer is a mirror with an applicator).
